Toby Owen grew up in Northumberland and now makes wine that is turning heads not only in Italy but across the world. He moved to Tuscany after discovering wine and now makes this delicious, organically grown red. It is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 10% Pugnitello & 5% Ciliegiolo (we’d never heard of the last two before either). It is smart and sophisticated with ripe plum fruit and lavish oak spice and mocha. Located just 15 miles south of Montalcino, it is a style that lovers of the wines of Brunello will recognise. It finishes with a flourish, leaving a coating of ripe, chalky tannin.

About Producer	For Brit Toby Owen, Coste del Vino is the realisation of a 20-year-old dream, which has led him to a small selection of clay, limestone and schist-based vineyard parcels around the villages of Seggiano and Castel del Piano in Tuscany. Focusing on Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, he uses organic and biodynamic techniques in the vineyard, vinifying each plot separately to give him as broad a pallet of options as possible for blending. Very light filtering and minimal Sulphur is as much interference as Toby’s wines see.
