It's simple...

“Service is at the forefront of everything we do. We have intuitive relationship with our customers and a genuine passion for wine”

Lorcan Byrne, Managing Director

Cumbrian Business

Based in Threlkeld in the Lake District national park, we are on your doorstep to meet your drinks needs and make business easier. Our fleet goes where national distributors do not: the Grapevine vans can be spotted daily negotiating the lanes of Loweswater to the byways of Buttermere.

Wine Education and Training

Grapevine has recently been granted Approved Programme Provider status by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). This means we are unique in offering WSET levels 1, 2 and 3 here in the Lakes. If your staff don’t wish to pursue a formal wine course, we can offer in-house training for your team.  Learn More

Expert Advice

We have recruited one of only 415 Masters of Wine, making us the only wine company from Clitheroe to Edinburgh to have a MW on its team. We’ve also been joined recently by a Bordeaux educator. Our team has more than 60 years’ experience in wine between them and they are always delighted to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

Sourcing Products

Wineries & Providers

We work directly with all of our suppliers, who are all specially selected for their pride, passion and quality products. We are very proud of the range of products available through Grapevine, and we continuously look to develop and improve our range. In combination with our sister company, Caterite, we are an integral part of the Cumbrian food and drink scene and that’s why prestigious companies want to partner with us. In 2022, we established a regional partnership with Champagne house Taittinger, which not only secures the best price for you but additional extras. We also have strong relationships with local brewers and distilleries.

Local

Locapour

We’re all trying to tread lightly when it comes to our footprint on earth whether it’s eating seasonally, buying organic produce or serving local. When it comes to drinks, we range many local products from Cumbrian Legendary Ales, the people behind Loweswater Gold to Bowness Bay and Coniston Brewing Co. In the spirits department, we champion The Lakes Distillery situated in Bassenthwaite as well as the Cumbrian Distilling Company in Carlisle. And there’s Lakes-based soft drink maker Zingi Bear, making one of the most intriguing soft drinks you’ll find.

Nolo

No & Low Alcohol

NOLO, otherwise known as no and low alcohol drinks, have been enjoying a rise in popularity and that’s set to continue as people seek to moderate their intake – or they are the evening’s designated driver. But we’re not willing to compromise on taste. When it comes to beer, there’s been a lot of great-tasting alternatives, which is probably why it accounts for three-quarters of the no and low volume market. You’ll find international brands like Moretti and Peroni in our portfolio to the local heroes like Bowness Bay Brewery that makes Swan Free, a 0.5% pale ale.
